Kasandra Y. Sharac (the Y stands for Why, Bitch?) was born in 1992 in what was then the Republic of Macedonia, what was previously the Socialist Republic of Macedonia, what was afterwards the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, and what is currently the Republic of North Macedonia.

Brought to the Netherlands at the age of 5 by her immigrant parents, she has learned to be culturally fluid. After living the academia life and having resided in Vienna and Paris (where she was part of the AWOL writers' group), she currently lives in Nijmegen.

She writes in Dutch and English. Most of her writing consists of short stories and poetry dealing with identity, late capitalist decline, whimsical body dysmorphia, and pigeons. Her writing has been described as 'ridiculous' and 'grotesque'.

She is currently writing her debut novel, with the working (or not so working) title *fuck that guy, and fuck the system, too. or how I met my mother.*
